Who am I?
Val – a nomad and female solo traveller who has learned to travel with a very small backpack. I am also a budget to midrange traveler that does not limit myself on unique experiences. Tasting local cuisine, engaging in leisure activities, and immersing myself in a country’s true culture is my priority.
What makes me a travel expert?
I have extensive experience performing research, planning and winging trips, and surrounding myself in the rich culture of the countries I visit. I prefer to blend in with the locals and not appear like a tourist, especially when I live in a new country (and it’s usually easy as a brunette!). I have lived in the USA, Hong Kong, Turkey, France, Czech Republic, and Sri Lanka. I’ve also mastered solo travel to 60 countries and 250+ cities, yet I have slowly and thoroughly explored the places I visited. I strongly believe travel should not be rushed; after all, it is not a race. Overall, I consider myself a well-rounded expert in travel and lifestyle around the globe.
Why Waves of Travel?
I decided to start a travel and lifestyle blog because people kept telling me to do so after seeing how frequently I was travelling and moving to different countries . “You should start a blog!” was often what I heard. At first, I didn’t think having a blog was my style because I am a private person. I am not an attention-seeker updating my Facebook every second when I’m on a trip or in general. I prefer to share when I have something valuable to say. Later, after reading a ton of inspirational books, I decided I also needed to be sharing my stories – perhaps I could help others with my knowledge. It took me months of planning, research, and learning the technical skills to start my blog. In fact, it even took me months to come up with the name “Waves of Travel” – which describes my ongoing travel and what people envision when they think of a relaxing holiday.
Now, I write to reflect on my travels and relive the memories. Writing compliments my continuing global education and I don’t want to forget the feeling and details in this fast-paced world.
What else?
Waves of Travel aims to bring unique content and unfiltered travels – sharing local experiences and showing real life colors in natural photos. I hope to avoid clichés like “not all who wander are lost” because overused content is not interesting, especially when the source is not explained. Moreover, some travel bloggers say they will teach you how to travel more and be a nomad, but the truth is that it’s not for everyone and it’s not everyone’s goal. And that’s fine too. 😉 Waves of Travel wants to inspire you to travel, educate you about the world, and entertain you. Whether you choose to travel every week, once a year, or never is your choice. Do whatever works for YOU.
The blog is designed for open minded people who love to travel around the world, in their country, or with their creative minds. I am a mix of adventure and professionalism, so some posts will be written as a blog, others like a newspaper, and so on; posts may be short or long. Ultimately, you [the audience] provides the best feedback on what you want to know about travel. Please contact Waves of Travel if you have questions about travel, feedback about the blog or would like to work with us.
Happy traveling!
